First stage of the 69th Ronde d`Oise UCI 2.2 with bunch sprint – Lukas Rüegg always on the attack
The 69th edition of the Ronde d`Oise UCI 2.2 in France kicked off today in difficult conditions. Rain and wind were today’s constant companions on the first stage from Crevecour le Grand to La Neuville en Hez over 140 kilometers.
Lukas Rüegg was the most active rider in the field today. He was able to break away from the field several times. However, the French teams kept closing the “hole”. The stage therefore ended in a bunch sprint. No big result for the Vorarlberg team today, but three more stages await tomorrow.
The stage win today went to Australian Lewis Bower (Equipe Groupama FDJ). Bower will start the second stage on Friday as the leader. A very long one, over 190 kilometers in hopefully better weather.
