Alexander Konychev in eleventh place at the starting stage of the Tour of Istanbul UCI 2.1!

12 september 2024 –

The first edition of the Tour of Istanbul UCI 2.1 last year is still fresh in the memories of the Team Vorarlberg pros. Bad weather and almost all riders out after a bacterial illness. And unfortunately it continues seamlessly in Turkey. Colin Stüssi is traveling with us after his accident last week. But after his arrival at the hotel on Tuesday, flu symptoms and off to bed.

Without the spearhead, the team went into this tour weakened. But the competition in particular has stepped up. Six teams in the first two categories adorn the start list. First and foremost the teams from Astana, Lotto-Dstny and Total-Energies.

Today the first and longest section with start and finish in Catalca over 160 challenging kilometers.

A very hectic stage right from the start. Immediately after the end of the neutralized phase, a leading group was able to break away from the field, which was only caught a few kilometers before the finish.

Alexander Konychev in eleventh place in the sprint of the day!
Frenchman Emilien Jeannière from Team Total-Energies won the race. Eleventh place goes to Alexander Konychev as the best Team Vorarlberg rider. Lukas Meiler, Lukas Rüegg and Felix Stehli finish with the peloton.

Tomorrow stage two with start and finish in Sile near the city of Istanbul over 130 kilometers.
