The fourth and final stage on Saturday of the Giro della Regione Friuli from Sacile to Gorizia over 160 kilometers was once again a matter for attackers. Especially the Team Vorarlberg pros. Konychev, Meiler, Stehli, Rüegg and Knolle sought salvation in the escape to the front.

In the end, it was Lukas Meiler who was able to break away with a group. For a long time, it looked like they would get through. But 15 kilometers before the finish they were caught. Alexander Konychev was then present in the counter attack. The Italian, who had been riding strongly throughout the entire tour, sprinted to seventh place today and is looking forward to next week’s Tour of Istanbul.

Non-stop to the Tour of Istanbul UCI 2.1 (12. – 15.09.)
After the return journey from Friuli, it’s time to pack. On Tuesday, the plane takes off for Team Vorarlberg to the last UCI tour of the year. The Tour of Istanbul has been upgraded to the same category as the Tour of Austria. This means that tough competition awaits with strong teams such as Astana, Lotto-Dstny, Total-Energies, etc. Whether Colin Stüssi will be on board will be revealed on Monday.
