Chapeau: Team Vorarlberg pro Felix Stehli in the top 30 at the Gravel World Championships in Leuven – Mathieu van der Poel crowns himself world champion

It was a great performance by the 23-year-old Swiss rider in the service of Team Vorarlberg at the Gravel World Championships in the Netherlands. Felix Stehli finished in a strong 30th place after 182 kilometers in Leuven. He also outpaced Greg van Avermaet, fourth in the 2022 Gravel World Championships, and Pirmin Benz, who finished 113th after a few incidents.

Felix Stehli after the race:It was a challenge in a field of 295 riders, as Pirmin and I started at the back due to the UCI world rankings. I had to go down once because of a pole, but otherwise it went perfectly. I was constantly in the fast lane and I’m super happy with the result. The enthusiasm for cycling in the Netherlands is unbelievable. It was brilliant to be here!”

Mathieu von der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck) became the much-acclaimed world champion in his home country, ahead of the Belgian Florian Vermeersch (Lotto-Dstny). Third place went to van der Poel’s team colleague Quinten Hermans (BEL).
