The first stage from Porec to Funtana over 151 kilometers in pouring rain and very slippery road conditions demanded everything from the riders in the peleton. At the start of the race, an eight-man lead group was able to break away from the peloton and was not seen again until shortly before the finish.
Alexander Konychev in 15th place in the daily classification!
Erik Fetter (Team United Shipping) won ahead of Samuele Privitera (Hagen Berman Jayco) and Dušan Rajović (Team Solution Tech – Vini Fantini).
Alexander Konychev, Emanuel Zangerle, Daniel Geismayr and Jannis Peter finish just a few seconds behind.
Stage number two on Saturday should then suit the classics riders, but possibly also Jannis Peter and Emanuel Zangerle. The demanding finale to Motovun awaits after 131 kilometers. A first test of current form after the first kilometers of the race.
